William Simon is a Junior Quantum Software Engineer at Zapata Computing. In 2018, he graduated from Tufts University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Physics and concentrations in Computer Science and Mathematics. After his undergraduate studies, he began conducting research on efficient compilation of quantum circuits and modeling molecular dynamics with quantum technologies under Dr. Peter Love. His focuses at Zapata Computing have included contributions to the software platform, quantum software library, and variational algorithms research.
As an undergraduate, I was drawn to the fields of Chemistry, Physics, Math, and Computer Science. Discovering the field of Quantum Computing was fascinating as it lies at the intersections of my interests and offers an exciting combination of multidisciplinary research and potential applications for a truly unique computational system. I dream of quantum computers aiding in materials research for the advancement of renewable energies.
