Dr. Christopher Brown (Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin) joined Zapata Computing as Director of Quantum Solutions in 2019. Bringing a distinguished and broad performance portfolio to his new role in Business Development, Dr. Brown has led projects and programs at both large corporations and startups across technological fields. As Director of Platform Innovation at Rogers Corporation, he managed the company’s Burlington Innovation Center. An acknowledged expert in OLED Display technology (88 granted patents (35 US), 16 pending), he has extensive experience commercializing electronic materials having worked at Eastman Kodak Company, Kateeva Incorporated, Plextronics Incorporated, and Kyulux, Rogers Corporation, and Zapata Computing.
Because it is the future! I have done Soccer, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Photovoltaics, Organic Light-Emitting Diodes, and one thing is abundantly clear to this Materials Scientist! These new tools are going to change everything and I am lucky to be a part of making that change happen.
Perhaps the ultimate chemistry problem is to understand the natural process for creating ammonia (NH3) from atmospheric (N2) nitrogen. This is a process known as Nitrogen Fixation and thanks to the 100-year-old human-engineered process known as the Haber-Bosch process we produce ~500 million tons of nitrogen fertilizer which contributes to feeding 40% of the world’s 7 billion people at the expense of 1-2% of the world’s annual energy supply to do so. Nature on the other hand, is more efficient. Bacteria accomplishes this with, does this with nitrogenase enzyme that human beings have yet to replicate.

I have always sniffed out the next big thing. I have done this throughout my career and while I have benefited, I have always had a timing such that I never had the big equity event. This last round is sniffing out Zapata and a way to be part of Quantum Computing.
