Description

Zapata Computing is a Founding Sponsor at Quantum.Tech 2022 from September 19th-21st, 2022 in person at Twickenham Stadium in London, England.

Using a combination of in-depth, cutting-edge case studies, great networking opportunities, and a comprehensive showcase of the entire supply chain, Quantum.Tech is the global meeting place for the Quantum community. Covering Quantum computing; sensing & metrology; communications & cryptography; hardware, devices and technology applications, Quantum.Tech is the “one stop shop” for understanding the Quantum technology ecosystem.

Topics include the current status of Quantum Computing, international perspectives and investment, communications & cryptograph across QKD, PQC and RNG and preparing a Quantum ready organization, among others.

On September 20th at 2:20PM, Francesco Benfenati, Quantum Solution Engineer, and David Benoit, Senior Lecturer in Molecular Physics and Astrochemistry, will share findings from Phase 2 of the Zapata x University of Hull project.

Talk Title: Using quantum computers to look for alien life in deep space

Summary: What if quantum computing could help solve one of the great challenges in astrophysics: “are we alone in the Universe”?
The University of Hull partnered with Zapata to try and answer this very question. In this session, we outline a simple approach that combines model Hamiltonians with variational quantum eigensolver techniques to help obtain key quantum quantities needed to describe molecular vibrations in space. Indeed, the specific vibrational pattern of each life molecule (biosignature) is pivotal to identifying life on other planets, but is typically a factorial-scaling problem on classical computers. Yet, despite the limitations of current QPUs, Zapata’s Orquestra platform provides us tools to formulate dependable quantum workflows to estimate the electronic correlation that shapes molecular biosignatures.
